Qi Gong (also spelled qigong) is an ancient Chinese practice that combines gentle movement, controlled breathing, and focused intention to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, or qi. Its origins trace back thousands of years to early Daoist, Buddhist, and medical traditions, where it evolved as a method for promoting harmony between body, mind, and nature. Over time, practitioners developed three primary branches of Qi Gong: medical Qi Gong, which focuses on healing and restoring internal balance; energetic Qi Gong, which emphasizes meditation, breathwork, and inner awareness for personal transformation; and martial Qi Gong, which enhances strength, resilience, and internal power to support martial arts training.

Today, Qi Gong is practiced worldwide as a gentle yet powerful method for improving overall well-being. Medical Qi Gong techniques are used to help reduce stress, alleviate chronic pain, improve balance, and support recovery from illness by regulating the nervous system and enhancing circulation. Energetic Qi Gong is often incorporated into mindfulness and wellness programs, helping people develop emotional calm, mental clarity, and resilience. Martial Qi Gong remains an important part of traditional Chinese martial arts, strengthening the body and cultivating discipline. Together, these forms of Qi Gong provide a versatile practice that supports physical health, emotional well-being, and long-term vitality for people of all ages and fitness levels
